Long Island teacher who posed as a teenager to trick kids into sending inappropriate photos faces disturbing new charges.

A former teacher from Long Island is facing new allegations related to child pornography, following a previous incident where he reportedly posed as a minor to solicit explicit images from a child.

Ryan McCaffery, 37, appeared in a Suffolk County court on Monday to answer charges including promoting sexual performances involving minors under 17 and possessing child pornography, according to court documents.

He’s accused of attempting to obtain nude Snapchat photos from children younger than 14 and of engaging in sexual conversations during what has been termed “Degenerate Chats,” as reported by Newsday.

This was revealed to have occurred in December, according to police.

McCaffery, who previously taught social studies and coached at Riverhead High School, was arrested in February after being linked to another case in Bergen County, New Jersey.

Authorities from New Jersey stated that McCaffery solicited nude images from two children under 13 through explicit online conversations in 2022.

These allegations emerged from a cybercrime investigation led by New York State Police, which took place at his home on January 17, according to reports.

During an interview conducted jointly with state and Bergen County police, McCaffery was implicated in the New Jersey allegations.

He resigned from his teaching position just before these new charges were brought against him, and officials have noted that local children were not involved in these incidents.

Moreover, it has been reported that the minors connected to the new allegations also do not attend Riverhead High School.

McCaffery has pleaded not guilty to the 11 charges filed by Suffolk County prosecutors. The judge determined that he would not require monetary bail, court records indicate.

He is scheduled to appear in court in New Jersey on Thursday, followed by another appearance on Long Island on June 16th.
