As President Donald Trump arrived in Saudi Arabia, journalists observed the presence of Mobile McDonald’s, set up in a press center in Riyadh, which seems a bit worn out from the fast-food chain’s ongoing association with the president.
Officials reportedly established Mobile McDonald’s, which was “still closed” as of Tuesday, within the “Media Oasis” for journalists. This “Oasis” showcases various Saudi government promotions, including construction projects like NEOM and venues for the upcoming 2034 FIFA World Cup, which Saudi Arabia is set to host amid some negative press.
Trump is well-known for his fondness for McDonald’s. His son-in-law, Jared Kushner, shared in his memoir that Trump’s typical orders include a Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish, French fries, and vanilla milkshakes. It has been noted by the New York Post:
Kushner mentioned in his memoir that he realized he was getting better from a severe bout of COVID-19 when Trump asked for one of his favorite meals in the fall of 2020.
According to Breitbart News, during the 2024 presidential election campaign against former Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump emphasized his fast-food work experience in Philadelphia, suggesting that Harris “has never worked for McDonald’s.”
Trump received a proud welcome in Riyadh on Tuesday; however, reports indicate he hasn’t yet indulged in any meals from McDonald’s. A video shared by White House deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino showed Saudi fighter jets escorting Trump’s Air Force One before it landed.
“Good morning from Air Force 1, Saudi Arabia!” Scavino wrote. “Thanks for the escorts, and President Trump is back. We appreciate it! See you on the ground soon!”
Simon Kent from Breitbart News reported that Trump received a “warm welcome” from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman upon landing. Trump is also set to participate in a Gulf summit on Tuesday before heading to Qatar.
