Officials report that a student from Bentley University tragically died after falling from a balcony while on a pre-graduation trip in the Bahamas. The incident happened on Sunday, and the school confirmed the news regarding Gaurav Jaisingh this week, just days before the university’s graduation ceremony.
“He was getting ready to graduate this weekend. I think the community needs some time to honor him,” someone shared with WHDH.
The authorities received an emergency call about a young man who had fallen from a higher balcony at their hotel on Paradise Island. When they arrived, Jaisingh was found unresponsive and unfortunately succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital.
Bentley University expressed its deep sorrow, calling the event a “significant tragedy.” They conveyed their condolences to Gaurav’s family, friends, and loved ones, indicating that the fall appeared to be accidental while local authorities investigated the situation.
“We’ll provide more details when they’re available, while also honoring the family’s privacy,” the school added.
Gaurav, originally from Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, was pursuing a degree in finance and was involved in Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity along with other campus organizations, according to his LinkedIn profile.
One of his classmates, Isabella Abeiga, shared her feelings, noting, “It was the last thing I could have imagined, especially just days before graduation.”
