President Donald Trump has promised that Americans will collaborate with Republicans in Congress to create a “big, beautiful bill” filled with campaign commitments.
Among these commitments are highlights like “no tax on tips,” “no tax on overtime,” and significant cuts in spending. Yet, there’s ongoing uncertainty about the bill’s progress, leaving many to wonder what’s truly happening behind the scenes.
Donald Trump’s Director of Management and Budget, Russell Vought, has offered some insights.
“I want to discuss Republicans because they view the current situation as a bit of a waste. They’re not fulfilling the president’s goals—they’re cutting budgets and considerably reducing regulations,” Vought stated during an appearance on the Glenn Beck Program.
“We’re currently navigating this process. At home, they’re trying to fulfill directives. They’ve generally passed a budget intended to cut taxes by $1.5 trillion and save around $4.5 trillion.”
“So, when do you expect this to actually be voted on and possibly pass?” Glenn Beck inquired.
“My hope is that, by next week, it will move from committee—two sizable committees, specifically the ways and means, as well as energy and commerce—to the budget and eventually set a vote on the House floor. That’s our target; that’s what we’re working towards.”
“We aim to operate strictly within the bounds of the law and the Constitution. Through reorganization and reductions, we’ll push as aggressively as we can, without resorting to recalls,” he added.
“We possess a range of tools that we actively employ to engage Congress because we can’t rely on the usual government processes that simply send bills and await a response,” he mentioned.
