Watch live: Noem testifies before House on DHS budget

Homeland Security Director to Testify on Budget

Christy Noem, the Director of Homeland Security (DHS), is set to testify before a House committee on Wednesday morning regarding the 2026 faculty budget.

Noem has made it clear that she intends to place strict limitations on the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and is emerging as a key advocate for President Trump’s stringent immigration policies. On Tuesday, she expressed criticism of Democrats participating in a protest in New Jersey near U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities. There are also indications that the Trump administration may consider legal action against lawmakers, including Newark’s Mayor Ras Baraka.

This hearing comes right after a federal judge permitted the administration to resume deportation flights to El Salvador, referencing an 18th-century law concerning “alien enemies” associated with gang affiliations.

Trump’s proposed budget, unveiled earlier this month, includes a request for $43.8 billion in additional funds for DHS.

The session is scheduled to commence at 10 a.m. EDT.
