Nucor faces a cybersecurity issue, temporarily halting certain production activities.

Nucor Corporation, a leading steelmaker based in North Carolina, announced on Wednesday that it encountered a cybersecurity issue, prompting a temporary shutdown of some production operations as a precautionary measure.

The company reported “unauthorized third-party access to certain IT systems” it utilizes. While specific production operations impacted by this temporary closure haven’t been disclosed in regulatory documents, Nucor is making efforts to restore them.

As part of its response to the cybersecurity breach, Nucor indicated that they took steps to “take potentially affected systems offline” and implement other necessary measures.

The facilities operated by Nucor are spread throughout North America.

Nucor, known as a major player in the steel industry, stated that the investigation is ongoing, and they are collaborating with external cybersecurity specialists and informing federal law enforcement. They believe it’s important to keep monitoring the situation closely.

According to their website, Nucor prides itself on being the largest and most diverse producer of steel products in North America, manufacturing a range of items including bars, beams, conduits, girders, and fasteners.
