Questions Surround Biden’s Health and Trust in Democrats
CNN’s Wolf Blitzer recently questioned House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries about the trustworthiness of Democrats given new allegations regarding attempts to conceal former President Joe Biden’s health issues.
Reports indicate that White House staff and some Democrats worked to obscure signals of Biden’s declining physical and mental health during his term, even contemplating the need for a wheelchair. An excerpt from a book titled “Original Sin” by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson highlighted these concerns. Blitzer pointedly asked Jeffries why voters should have faith in Democrats, given the alleged cover-up.
Jeffries responded cautiously, stating, “I can’t comment on the specific incident with George Clooney and President Biden. What matters now is looking forward and addressing the challenges posed by Republican actions against essential services for Americans.”
When pressed about noticing any changes in Biden’s mental state during a recent interaction, Jeffries did not provide a direct answer.
The book also noted that Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s personal physician, had advised the team that “we might need a wheelchair” if Biden encounters further falls. O’Connor has been vocal about his worries regarding the strain of the presidency on the 81-year-old leader’s health, frequently recommending more rest for him.
Additionally, it was reported that Biden failed to recognize George Clooney during a political fundraiser in June 2024, which reportedly left Clooney visibly unsettled. Biden has experienced significant spinal degeneration, contributing to his decreased strength. Following an incident where he stumbled in June 2023, his aides became increasingly concerned about his safety as the 2024 election approached, advocating for shorter walking routes and handrails.
Democrats have begun voicing their concerns about Biden’s fitness for the campaign, particularly after a poor debate performance against Donald Trump. The White House downplayed the incident, claiming it was just a “bad night” and asserting that they had been open about his health.
In a recent “CNN Newsroom” appearance, Tapper criticized the Democrats and the Biden administration for allegedly misleading the public about the president’s condition. Various commentators, including Lara Trump and former candidate Dean Phillips, have remarked on Biden’s noticeable decline leading up to the election.
Thompson also condemned the Biden administration for hiding Biden’s mental decline, calling attention to the media’s silence on the matter during a recent White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
