Joe Biden’s Fundraiser Interaction with George Clooney Raises Concerns
During a recent fundraiser for the 2024 presidential election, Joe Biden reportedly failed to recognize actor George Clooney, prompting discussions about the president’s cognitive decline. An upcoming book, titled “The Original Crime: President Biden’s Decline, Cover-Up and His Miserable Choice to Run Again,” highlights the incident.
When Clooney approached Biden backstage, the president’s demeanor seemed noticeably diminished, as though he had aged significantly since their last encounter in December 2022. The author noted that Biden needed assistance moving around, indicating potential physical struggles.
The event took place in June 2024, shortly after Biden returned from the G7 conference in Italy. He mingled with guests, but it became apparent that his aide had to remind him who Clooney was before they spoke. “You know George,” the aide reportedly prompted Biden, to which the president replied, “Yeah, yeah. Thank you for being here.”
Writers of the book conveyed that it was evident Biden was unaware of who Clooney really was. They described a lack of acknowledgment from Biden and his closest advisors regarding his evident decline in energy and cognitive abilities, suggesting attempts were made to cover up his condition.
Clooney himself seemed taken aback by the interaction, with another Hollywood figure present commenting, “It’s concerning when someone can’t recognize a person they’ve known for years, especially at a fundraising event.” Many attending the event shared observations of Biden appearing tense and slow, highlighting further concerns about his mental sharpness.
This instance, among other anecdotes discussed in the upcoming book by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’s Alex Thompson, raises questions about Biden’s readiness for the rigors of a second term. The book is set to be released on May 20th and is based on over 200 interviews with Democratic insiders conducted post-2024 election.
