Wes Huff Defends Biblical Truth on Secular Comedy Podcast

Christian apologist Wes Huff recently appeared on the “Flagrant” podcast, hosted by comedians Andrew Schulz and Akash Singh, where he discussed the exclusivity of Jesus Christ in relation to the gospel and salvation.

Huff stated, “When you stand before the throne of judgment, you will either receive the punishment you deserve, or you will be covered in the righteousness of Christ, and the penalty will be on him,” expressing a sense of assurance in faith.

During the discussion, someone inquired about the possibility of non-Christians entering heaven. Huff responded thoughtfully, suggesting that God isn’t going to coerce anyone into heaven. He also referenced the late Christian writer C.S. Lewis, quoting him on the idea that access to heaven is “locked from the inside.”

“If you don’t live your life according to what Jesus calls you to, He will not force you into His presence,” Huff explained. “Hell represents God saying, ‘Your will be done.’ What you seek in rejecting Christ is what you end up missing in the afterlife.”

The notion that Christianity embodies both inclusivity and exclusivity caught his attention. He noted, “Christianity invites you in, but while it welcomes you as you are, it also emphasizes that Jesus loves you too much to let you stay that way.”

The conversation stretched over three hours, covering diverse topics like biblical theology and comparisons to other religions. At the outset, Schulz described Huff as “the most physically imposing Bible expert” he’d ever met, and acknowledged him as a “true man of God.”

According to reports, Schulz questioned Huff about whether one must consider themselves a sinner before realizing the need for Christ. Huff reflected, “This means we might be more flawed than we think, yet capable of more good than we recognize. And going to heaven isn’t about what I’ve done; it’s about what Jesus accomplished.”

Huff continued, “So in some ways, you’re more of a sinner than you may have realized, but you’re also more loved than you know and capable of amazing things. That’s the tension within Christianity.”

As the director of Apologetics Canada, Huff gained significant attention after his appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast earlier this year. He is currently pursuing a PhD focusing on the New Testament at Wycliffe College, University of Toronto, while also contributing to discussions on theology and Christian archaeology on his YouTube channel.
