American musician Chris Brown faces serious assault charges stemming from an alleged bottle attack at a London nightclub two years ago.
The 36-year-old rapper, who is known for his past relationship with singer Rihanna, was taken into custody around 2 a.m. Thursday at the upscale Raleigh hotel in Salford, Greater Manchester, after arriving in the UK for a tour.
Currently, he remains in custody and is set to make a court appearance at Manchester Magistrates Court on Friday.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan police noted:
“He was arrested and remains in custody. This arrest relates to an incident that occurred on February 19, 2023, at the Hanover Square venue.”
Adele Kelly, the deputy general prosecutor at CPS London North, mentioned:
“The alleged incident took place in London on February 19, 2023. He will be in the first courtroom at Manchester Magistrates Court on Friday, May 16th.”
Brown is expected to kick off a 10-day tour in the UK as part of his upcoming Bowl XX tour, which launches on June 15th at Co-op Live Arena in Manchester.
