Two Jets Crash at Idaho Air Show
On Sunday, during the second day of the Gunfighter Skies Air Show at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho, two jets collided, prompting a lockdown of the facility, as reported by local media and witnesses.
“An aircraft accident occurred at Mountain Home Air Force Base during the Gunfighter Skies Air Show two miles northwest of the base,” stated the Mountain Home Gunfighters on Facebook.
Emergency responders are currently on the scene while an investigation is underway. They mentioned that further details would be available soon.
Footage shared on social media captured the moment two jets collided midair. Just after, four parachutes were seen deploying before the aircraft plummeted to the ground and exploded, releasing thick black smoke.
David Katz, who was at the air show with his family, recounted witnessing the collision. He described seeing flames and smoke, noting, “I saw smoke and a ball of fire. Apparently, there was a collision there. One of the planes hit it and it started burning in the air.”
Katz recalled being in a car with his two sons when he saw the parachutes deploy. He expressed concern for the pilots as emergency personnel rushed to the crash site.
KTVB also reported that multiple witnesses observed the jets’ crash, sharing videos of the significant smoke observed near the air base. Law enforcement and emergency services arrived promptly to gather information, although authorities have not confirmed any injuries or additional details on the incident yet.
