Teamsters President Critiques Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz
During an interview on SiriusXM’s Megyn Kelly, Teamsters President Sean O’Brien expressed doubts about Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Waltz, describing their partnership as “creepy.” O’Brien highlighted that the union has not endorsed a presidential candidate for 2024, indicating that Harris and her team made discussions challenging.
O’Brien characterized Harris as “very arrogant” and pointed to a prevailing attitude within the Democratic Party. He expressed his disappointment, stating that the Teamsters have contributed millions to Democrats, only to feel that their concerns were overlooked. “It’s like they thought they could just throw some numbers at us,” he remarked.
O’Brien noted the union’s effort to engage with presidential candidates, mentioning that Harris did not adequately respond to a list of questions they posed. In a different interview with Tucker Carlson, she left after only answering a few of the 16 questions presented to her.
Reflecting on Harris’s approach, O’Brien pointed out her embrace of technology, which he felt conflicted with the values of American workers. He noted, “She seemed out of touch, almost like she was reading from an old script.” As Harris’s campaign struggled to connect with key demographics like Hispanics and Black men, she attempted to bolster her support through strategic appearances with notable figures including former President Barack Obama.
O’Brien was also critical of Waltz. He found his comments regarding union leadership both amusing and misguided, questioning his authenticity and comparing him to a “creepy high school wrestling coach.” In remarks about Waltz’s past military service, he called into question the validity of his experiences, suggesting Waltz’s history was embellished.
Overall, O’Brien’s critique reflects deeper dissatisfaction with the current Democratic leadership, voicing the concerns of union members who feel sidelined in political discussions.
