A Pfizer scientist stated that the postponement of COVID vaccine results until after the 2020 election was not by chance, according to a House GOP panel.

Claims of Pfizer Vaccine Delays Raised in Congressional Panel

In Washington, there are serious allegations surfacing regarding the timing of the Covid-19 vaccine release following the 2020 election. A Republican-led Congressional panel is questioning whether it was, perhaps, not merely a coincidence that the vaccine results came out when they did. They suggest that senior executives at Pfizer might have intentionally slowed down testing processes.

The House Judiciary Committee revealed on Thursday that Dr. Philip Dormitzer, who was formerly the head of research and development for global vaccines at Pfizer, may have been involved in efforts to withhold critical public health information during the campaign period between Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

A letter from GSK to House Speaker Jim Jordan on April 16 indicated that Dormitzer had mentioned potential relocations for personnel overseas in late 2024, which raised eyebrows. An HR official noted that he seemed “visibly upset” during a meeting and expressed a desire to move to Canada out of concern that he might be investigated by the Trump administration for his role in the vaccine’s development.

When questioned about the motivations behind the requests for relocation, Dormitzer’s response was telling: “Let’s say that’s not a coincidence and it’s not the timing of the vaccine.”

Pfizer had employed independent experts to evaluate the vaccine’s safety and efficacy, announcing the findings just five days after the election results were finalized on November 3, 2020.

GSK also pointed out that some employees heard discussions among scientists regarding potential delays. However, the pharmaceutical company disputed the claims that Dormitzer had intentionally delayed disclosure of the vaccine results, suggesting instead that external circumstances were at play.

The Judiciary Committee dispatched letters to Dormitzer and Pfizer Chairman Dr. Albert Bourla on Thursday, requesting comprehensive records—everything from emails to memos—related to clinical trials and interactions with public health agencies.

In response to these allegations, Dormitzer had previously insisted, “My Pfizer colleague and I did everything we could to get the FDA emergency use permit at the earliest opportunity.”

In his letter, Speaker Jordan claimed the information suggested a conspiracy among senior Pfizer executives to manipulate public health information for political gain during the election year. Such serious allegations prompted the Committee to seek a deeper understanding.

The information being sought covers the time frame from March 2020 to the present. Additionally, interviews with Dormitzer have been scheduled by May 29.

While Dormitzer previously contributed to Democratic campaigns and donated significantly to various congressional candidates during his time at Novartis, some of his earlier comments were made amid a federal investigation led by New York prosecutors.

Scientists have previously denied any claims that there was an intentional delay in releasing the vaccine. They argued that Dormitzer’s comments were misinterpreted.

In a statement, Dormitzer reiterated his stance, maintaining that “Other interpretations of my comments regarding the pace of vaccine development would be incorrect.”

Pfizer acknowledged the Committee’s inquiries and assured that they would respond directly regarding the allegations highlighted in reports.

A spokesperson commented that the vaccine’s development was based on scientific principles and guided by the US FDA’s oversight throughout 2020. They have consistently presented clear timelines of the work done by scientists and volunteers and dismissed opposing theories as unfounded.

As of now, GSK has not provided immediate feedback on the situation.

Meanwhile, President Trump expressed pride in the Operation Warp Speed initiative, which he claims facilitated the vaccination of millions of Americans against Covid-19.
