Emily English: From Kitchen Experiments to Social Media Stardom
Emily English has gained a significant following online by sharing healthy and tasty recipes. Based in London, the BSC Nutritionist recently discussed her journey and what has shaped her social media presence.
English expresses her enthusiasm for food, noting that it’s possible to enjoy delicious meals while still consuming plenty of nutrients. Her Instagram account, where she posts recipes for her 1.8 million followers, took off during the COVID-19 lockdown.
“It all started during the tough times of lockdown. I would set up my phone on the kitchen cupboard, balancing it just right, to capture my cooking process. I wanted to show others what I was making,” she recalled.
Her passion for nutrition developed as she noticed unhealthy dietary habits around her. English pointed out a significant gap in her understanding of nutrition and its relation to daily eating habits. “I realized how much I didn’t know about nutrition and how it influences our lives,” she shared.
Through her recipes, English aims for people not only to enjoy the dishes but also to feel satisfied. She believes that feeling full and content is essential — “It’s important to understand that healthy eating doesn’t have to feel restrictive or leave you hungry.”
In addition to her social media success, English is a bestselling author. Her cookbook “So Good” was published in 2024, and she is set to release a new book titled “Live To Eat” on July 1st, which is available for pre-order. “These recipes are designed to be not just good for you, but also enjoyable to eat,” she described enthusiastically.
English suggests that adopting a healthier lifestyle doesn’t require drastic changes. “You don’t have to overhaul everything to be healthier. It’s about making small, manageable changes that fit into your current lifestyle,” she advised.
