Sen. Chris Murphy Discusses Biden’s Leadership

Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) commented on Sunday that Democrats perhaps missed an opportunity to address issues with then-President Joe Biden during his term, describing the situation as being stuck with a “madman” in the Oval Office.

“The president should have stepped aside earlier,” Murphy remarked, suggesting that Kamala Harris might have performed well in a primary. Yet, he reflected on the inability of Democrats to navigate the political climate effectively.

During the discussion with host Kristen Welker, she brought up a new book by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson, titled “Original Singh,” which reportedly sheds light on what is described as a cover-up within the White House involving key aides around the president. She questioned whether Biden’s top officials were concealing concerns about his mental health at the time.

“I haven’t had the chance to read the book, so I can’t comment on those specific allegations. However, I worked closely with him through 2020 and 2022,” Murphy replied. He concluded with, “Ultimately, it feels like we are left with a locked president and a troubling situation for which we can’t really justify the Democrats’ actions.”
