Trump: Democrats Struggling in Generic Polls Due to Their Choice of 'Lunatics'

Trump Critiques Democrats’ Poll Performance at G7

During a press conference at the G7 summit in France on Wednesday, President Donald Trump stated that Democrats are struggling in public opinion polls because voters perceive them as “crazy.”

Nick Gilbertson, a correspondent for Breitbart News, pointed out that a recent economist/YouGov public opinion poll indicated that Democrats have lost their 5-point lead in the general congressional vote.

“They’ve only maintained a two-point lead since February,” Gilbertson remarked. “Do you believe they’re losing momentum?”

Trump responded by emphasizing the significance of what he called “generic drugs,” expressing skepticism about the accuracy of polls. “We’ve seen a lot of negative polls; they seem dishonest. The people here are quite untrustworthy, including many reporters—CNN, ABC, that whole crew,” he remarked, referring to media outlets.

“They need to change their approach, or they won’t succeed because people are losing faith in them,” Trump continued, suggesting that the Republican Party is starting to gain ground due to what he considers the left’s choice of “lunatics” as candidates.

“Generic drugs are interesting because Republicans have been getting stronger. Why? They’re looking at all these odd candidates, like the one with a swastika in Maine,” Trump mentioned, alluding to Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner.

Trump also noted a peculiar irony: “For ten years, they’ve labeled me as a Nazi, and now we have a Nazi running for office. He has tattoos. I’ve been insisting otherwise for years, but they just keep showing up. I don’t think they can stamp me with that anymore.”

It’s worth noting that Platner’s former girlfriend claimed he had an affair with his fiancée and defended his Nazi tattoo, suggesting he keeps it to “remind us that America is bad abroad.”

Currently, the latest economist/YouGov survey shows that the lead Democrats had over Republicans among registered voters for the general congressional ballot has dwindled to just 2 points.
