Springsteen Avoids Trump Questions at Manchester Concert
Singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen, often referred to as “The Boss,” recently sidestepped inquiries regarding his ongoing feud with President Donald Trump during a concert in Manchester, England. Wearing his Deus Ex-Machina jacket and Ray-Ban sunglasses, he greeted fans and signed memorabilia but didn’t offer a comment when asked about Trump.
Instead, Springsteen chuckled, raised a hand in acknowledgment, and continued to engage with his fans. This interaction took place during the first performance of his concert series in Manchester.
Earlier, he expressed his opinions on the political climate, stating, “In my home, America I love, America I wrote, has been a beacon of hope and freedom for 250 years, and is now in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and uncomfortable administration.” His remarks were met with applause, reflecting the crowd’s support for his stance.
Springsteen continued to rally the audience, calling for unity against authoritarianism and urging those who believe in democracy to speak out. The concert aimed to resonate as a powerful moment against the backdrop of troubling times.
In response, Trump later criticized Springsteen, labeling him “very overrated” and dismissing his music and political views. The president remarked, “I think the highly overrated Bruce Springsteen is going abroad to talk badly about the US president,” suggesting he didn’t think highly of Springsteen’s talent.
Trump went on to comment on the state of the current administration, implying that Springsteen, like many others, misinterpreted the situation. He concluded with a taunt about Springsteen’s relevance and called for him to be quiet until he “returns to the countryside.” Springsteen had previously indicated his support for Kamala Harris in the last election cycle, further fueling the ongoing tension.
