Planned Protest for Trump’s 79th Birthday
Organizers have something rather unexpected in mind for President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday, which falls on June 14th. They are hoping for his participation in a military parade set to take place in Washington, D.C.
A group known as Garbage Fascism, which claims responsibility for the event, previously organized protests against the Trump administration in various cities, including downtown Los Angeles. This was reported by ABC’s channel 7.
Sunsara Taylor, a member of the group, shared her thoughts with the station:
Donald Trump is undermining the rule of law, attacking immigrants, and potentially threatening citizens without any legitimate process. Just the other day, he expressed uncertainty about needing to follow the Constitution. This is a crisis—not just for people in this country, but globally.
The planned event is referred to as “There is no King’s Day” on June 14th.
According to reports from Newsweek, the protest is actually spearheaded by a group called “The King,” in collaboration with other organizations focusing on issues related to black voters and the Declaration of American Democracy.
Volunteers have been mobilized by the group, making a statement that “Trump isn’t like anyone else—no throne, crown, or king of kings.” However, it’s still uncertain how many supporters will show up.
Protests against Donald Trump have become a familiar occurrence since his first inauguration. Yet, following George Floyd’s death in 2020, such gatherings have mostly lacked large turnout and sweeping national impact compared to earlier demonstrations.
In relation to June 14th, the administration will also be hosting a parade to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army. This event is expected to feature numerous tanks, thousands of troops marching, and military aircraft soaring over the capital.
