Obamas respond to Biden’s cancer diagnosis

Former President Obama addressed the recent news regarding former President Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis on Sunday, expressing his strong belief in Biden’s “trademark resolve and bounty.”

He highlighted Biden’s efforts in advancing cancer research.

“Michelle and I are keeping the entire Biden family in our thoughts,” Obama posted on X.

“No one is better suited to push for groundbreaking cancer treatments than Joe, and I have no doubt he will approach this challenge with his characteristic determination and grace,” he added.

“We are hoping for a swift and complete recovery,” he noted.

Biden previously led the Cancer Moonshot Initiative during the Obama administration, which aimed to speed up cancer research, enhance prevention and treatment methods, foster collaboration in medical research, and improve care access.

He revived this initiative while serving as president.

This statement followed an announcement from a Biden spokesman regarding his “aggressive” cancer diagnosis.

“Last week, President Joe Biden received news about prostate nodules after noticing increased urinary symptoms,” the statement from his personal team mentioned.

“On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, rated at a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) and with metastasis to the bone,” it continued.

“This indicates a more aggressive type of cancer, though it appears hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management. The president and his family are currently discussing treatment options with medical professionals.”
