Russell Wilson feels connected to New York as he enjoys the Knicks playoffs and Subway Series.

Russell Wilson has been quite active in the city since taking on the role of starting quarterback for the Giants, showing up in Celebrity Row during the Knicks’ playoff games recently.

The future Hall of Famer celebrated with stars like Bad Bunny and others after the Knicks clinched their series in a nail-biting Game 6 against the Celtics. I think it must have been a great atmosphere—lots of excitement and energy that night.

On Sunday evening, Wilson, who was a top MLB draft pick back in 2010, returned to his baseball roots, filming the Yankee Smets finale at Yankee Stadium along with his singer wife, Ciara, and their kids.

“It was really enjoyable to be around the Knicks and attend their games at Madison Square Garden,” Wilson mentioned during batting practice. “I started connecting with Jalen Brunson and seeing the vibrant atmosphere there. Josh Hart and Karl-Anthony Towns, too—they’re all really special.”

“It truly felt like we’re part of New York right now, surrounded by these remarkable athletes, including my good friend Aaron Judge. I’m eager for the new Giants season,” he added.

Wilson, who had a brief spring training stint with the Yankees in 2018, took photos with Judge and other New Jersey natives, like Anthony Volpe, during batting practice.

He mentioned that the game was a birthday gift for his son, who turns 11 soon. It’s sweet how those personal moments intertwine with his life in sports. He commented, “Being around this winning culture, especially with baseball stars like Aaron, is always meaningful. I’ve trained with these guys, and it’s truly an honor.”

Wilson, a lifelong Yankees fan, fondly reminisced about idolizing Derek Jeter and the values that baseball traditions represent to him.

Ciara was spotted in Celebrity Row during the final quarter with their son and her husband, adding a family touch to the event.

The Giants recently inked Wilson to a one-year deal worth up to $21 million after a challenging 3-14 season in 2024.

They also picked up veteran quarterback Jameis Winston and drafted Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart as their 25th overall choice.

“I’m thrilled to be a New York Giant and look forward to our team’s potential,” Wilson expressed, reflecting on his year with the Steelers before this. “With the effort we’re putting in, I anticipate an exciting season ahead.”
