Joe Biden’s 2022 Comment About Having Cancer Becomes Popular Following His Diagnosis

An old video featuring former US president Joe Biden discussing cancer has resurfaced online following his recent diagnosis of prostate cancer.

The video, from July 20, 2022, captures Biden at a press conference in Somerset, Massachusetts. He was addressing environmental issues, particularly the impact of oil pollution in Delaware, his hometown, and remarked, "That’s why I, and many other people I grew up in, have cancer."

At the time, the White House downplayed his comments, labeling them a gaffe. Officials later clarified that Biden was referring to past cases of non-melanoma skin cancer he had removed before his presidency, not a current aggressive cancer diagnosis.

White House Correspondent Jackie Heinrich noted that Biden "mistakenly stated" that he has cancer, and reiterated the past treatments he underwent.

Now, with Biden recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer, the old video is circulating widely on social media. His office revealed that the 82-year-old reported urinary symptoms, leading to the discovery of a prostate nodule and a Gleason score of 9, indicating a high-grade, fast-growing cancer. Although the diagnosis is serious, doctors mention that the cancer is hormone-sensitive and can be treated effectively.

Donald Trump Jr. has raised suspicions about the transparency of Biden’s health, questioning how Dr. Jill Biden could have missed "Stage 5 metastatic cancer" or if there was any cover-up involved.

In an upcoming book titled original sin, it is suggested that Biden’s aides, including Jill Biden, recognized his declining health and may have kept this information from the public leading up to the 2024 presidential election.

Concerns about his cognitive and physical abilities have been prevalent during his campaign, although White House doctors have deemed him "fully suited to the presidency." Ultimately, he withdrew from the presidential race in July 2024, endorsing former vice president Kamala Harris as his successor.

Biden has a long-standing connection to the fight against cancer. His son, Beau, succumbed to brain cancer in 2015, and during his tenure as Vice President, he led the Obama-era Cancer Moonshot initiative, which he regarded as one of the most significant missions of his public career.
