According to Dan Bongino, the deputy director of the FBI, convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide while in federal custody at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City.
On the social media platform X, Bongino stated, “I reviewed the case. Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide. There’s no evidence in the case file that suggests otherwise.” He added, “I’m not asking you to believe me or not. I’m just sharing what exists and what doesn’t. If new evidence comes up, I’m open to reassessing.”
Earlier this month, FBI director Kash Patel expressed similar beliefs about Epstein’s death, affirming there was nothing more to discuss. He acknowledged that people are entitled to doubt his conclusions.
Patel emphasized his extensive experience within the judicial system and mentioned that he had spent considerable time in detention facilities. He remained confident that Epstein’s death was indeed a suicide.
In a discussion with Maria Bartiromo, Bongino concurred with Patel, affirming, “He committed suicide. I reviewed the entire file. He committed suicide.”
Dr. Barbara Sampson, a former Chief Medical Examiner in New York City, stated that Epstein’s cause of death was hanging, reinforcing the conclusion that it was a suicide.
Epstein was found dead just a month after being incarcerated, on August 10, 2019, with a bed sheet around his neck.
Initially, authorities declared Epstein’s death a suicide. Subsequently, his family engaged a forensic pathologist named Michael Baden, who suggested the possibility of murder.
