Pakistan’s espionage network uncovered in Haryana’s Nuh district

Haryana Police Uncover Spy Network

Haryana police, along with federal agencies, announced on Monday the discovery of a spy network allegedly providing information linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). They have made multiple arrests, including two key individuals connected to this espionage activity.

The second arrest, identified as Tarif—son of Hanif from the village of Tauru in Nuh—follows that of 23-year-old Erman, who was detained last week. Authorities claim there’s evidence supporting that Erman was transferring sensitive details to Pakistan.

In addition to these arrests, a legal case has been initiated against two staff members of Pakistan’s High Commission in Delhi. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini stated that the police would continue to target anyone involved in actions threatening national security, particularly within the realm of espionage. “If we identify others participating in similar activities, we will take action against them too,” he noted.

Tarif and Erman’s detentions are reportedly part of a broader initiative against suspected Pakistani spy networks in regions including Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat. So far, authorities have arrested over half a dozen individuals. Notably, one of those detained is Jyoti Malhotra, a prominent YouTuber believed to be managed by Pakistani operatives. She allegedly shared information concerning Indian military operations and was arrested last week.

Malhotra, who runs a popular YouTube channel called “Travel With Jo,” is said to have visited Pakistan at least twice, having been contacted by an official from the Pakistani High Commission. Other individuals arrested include Davendra Singh Dillon, a political science student, and Shazad, a businessman. Dillon was reportedly taken into custody after sharing sensitive information and images related to military installations.

With ongoing tensions regarding allegations that Pakistan sponsors cross-border terrorism, these arrests are particularly significant. India accuses Pakistan of backing terrorist activities on its soil, as evidenced by recent attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, where civilians were targeted. In response, India has conducted military operations targeting terrorist camps across the border.

As this situation unfolds, Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a warning about potential military action under a new strategy focusing on terrorism, signaling a zero-tolerance approach towards any threats emanating from Pakistan.
