Retired NFL linebacker Adarius Taylor is one of over 250 people taken into custody during a human trafficking operation, according to authorities.

Former NFL Linebacker Arrested in Human Trafficking Sting

A former NFL linebacker was among over 250 individuals detained in Florida for a significant human trafficking operation. In addition, officials reported the rescue of 30 illegal immigrants during this crackdown.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office announced that the player, who had seven NFL seasons with teams like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Carolina Panthers, and the Cleveland Browns, was taken into custody last month as part of a coordinated effort by several agencies.

Adarius Taylor, 34, allegedly brought a 6-year-old to a location where he was injured and left the child in a vehicle while he went inside, according to Sheriff Grady Judd.

“I mean, it’s baffling, right? He must have sustained some serious blows during his playing days—his judgment seems pretty clouded,” Judd remarked.

The child has since been placed in the care of the Florida Department of Children and Families, which provided necessary assistance following the incident.

During a police operation from May 2 to May 10, a total of 255 arrests were made, including those of 255 illegal immigrants. In terms of charges, Taylor faces a felony for negligent child abuse without bodily harm, and a misdemeanor related to prostitution.

Out of the 255 individuals arrested, 141 were charged with soliciting prostitutes. Additionally, 93 were accused of offering prostitution services, while others faced various related charges such as trafficking or attempting to meet minors for inappropriate purposes.

Interestingly, Sheriff Judd noted that four people had been identified as potential victims of human trafficking and were provided with necessary services.

Taylor’s last professional season was in 2020 with the Carolina Panthers, where he started in two games. It’s quite shocking how a career can take such a drastic turn, don’t you think?
