Indiana State Police Help Deliver Baby on Interstate 65
On Saturday morning, Indiana State Police troopers assisted in the delivery of a baby on Interstate 65, according to reports. The incident took place around 8 AM in Tippecanoe County when officers were called to a medical emergency involving a woman who had pulled over to the side of the road.
Upon arrival, the troopers encountered a woman in active labor, accompanied by the baby’s father and grandmother, as stated in a press release from the Indiana Police Lafayette District.
It became apparent that the baby was not going to wait, and Troopers Fike and McCormick stepped in to help deliver a healthy baby boy right there on the highway.
Shortly after the birth, emergency medical services arrived and took both the mother and her newborn to a nearby hospital for further care.
The Indiana State Police praised Troopers Fike and McCormick for their swift action, professionalism, and composure during such memorable and intense moments.
