Democrats Face Dilemma Over Health Issues of Leaders
Former Democratic strategist Dan Trenine expressed on Monday that the Democratic Party finds itself in a tricky spot. They’ve been hesitant to address President Donald Trump’s health despite recent revelations concerning former President Joe Biden’s health.
Biden’s office shared on Sunday that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer just ahead of a book release that covers his health issues, specifically a cover-up involving CNN anchor Jake Tupper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson titled “Original Singh.” Trenine commented that the Democratic Party’s renewed backing of Biden’s reelection has backfired, complicating their ability to challenge Trump’s fitness for office. It’s as if they can’t shift their focus to Trump without being a bit hypocritical.
Trenine noted, “It’s ironic. Even many Democrats acknowledged this, with 70-80% insisting to voters in recent years that Biden was too old.” He questions the party’s strategy, pondering whether they might rally behind Kamala Harris instead. “Biden didn’t seem to have faith in her. All attempts by Schumer, Jeffries, and Pelosi to stop Trump only seemed to empower him further. Now, it feels like we’re stuck trying to rectify this situation.”
He added, “There’s hardly any party left that doesn’t feel the need to shift focus and raise questions about Trump’s health and what’s happening with his family.” A feeling lingered that they had turned a blind eye to Biden’s issues, and now they’re facing the consequences. “We lost,” he summed up.
While Biden’s cancer is described as “aggressive,” his office believes it can be managed effectively.
Historically, Biden has undergone two surgeries related to his health, specifically for a cerebral aneurysm and a pulmonary embolism in 1988.
On the other hand, Trump’s medical evaluations have been positive. U.S. Navy Colonel Sean P. Barbabera reported in a memo this April that Trump demonstrates “excellent cognition and physical health,” following an annual check-up at Walter Reed.
Health expert Raymond Scarlett commented on another show, noting that Trump’s report was exceptional in detail and results. He remarked, “It’s an excellent report—very specific. His physical examinations yielded great findings, and there’s no valid reason to question its accuracy or the integrity of the reporting. He appears to be in excellent physical and mental health.”
