Joe Biden Addresses Prostate Cancer Diagnosis
A former Democrat supporter of Joe Biden has shared his first public statement following the revelation of his prostate cancer diagnosis.
On Monday, Biden took to social media to express heartfelt gratitude, along with his wife, Jill Biden, for the outpouring of “love and support” they have received during this challenging time.
“Cancer touches us all,” he wrote in his post. “Like many, Jill and I have learned that we are the strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”
This statement follows the announcement from Biden’s office on Sunday, which detailed that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.
“Last week, new prostate nodules were discovered during a medical checkup after Joe experienced increased urinary symptoms. On Friday, he received a diagnosis of prostate cancer characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (grade group 5), which includes metastasis to the bone,” the statement explained.
The statement further noted, “This indicates a more aggressive form of the disease, but cancer is hormone sensitive and can be managed effectively.”
According to the American Cancer Society, the grade group of prostate cancer helps measure the potential growth and spread of the disease. A Grade Group 5 suggests that cancer may be growing outside the prostate or nearby tissue but may not have spread to lymph nodes or other parts of the body.
This diagnosis came shortly after reports indicated that a “small nodule” was detected during Biden’s recent physical exam.
Following the news, many people have sent their well-wishes to the former president, including political opponents like former President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
“Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “We send our warmest wishes to Jill and his family. We hope for Joe’s quick and successful recovery.”
