Rudy Gobert, the center for the Minnesota Timberwolves, is facing some backlash after reportedly asking his pregnant girlfriend, Julia Bonilla, to leave their shared home.
TMZ broke the story, highlighting Bonilla’s emotional reaction on social media, where she seems to be processing the situation.
In a statement on Instagram, Gobert mentioned, “Julia and I are currently in a painful process of redefining our relationship.” He continued, emphasizing that becoming a father is profoundly significant to him and remains a top priority.
Gobert expressed his commitment to supporting those he cares about, urging respect for their privacy during these trying times.
Bonilla and Gobert already have children together and were seen at a Timberwolves game earlier this month, as reported by TMZ Sports.
However, sources suggest that the dynamics have shifted since Bonilla announced her current pregnancy.
Bonilla is said to have considered returning to France, though she prefers to stay in the U.S. for the sake of her child, with hopes of establishing a friendly co-parenting situation after the Timberwolves’ season wraps up.
On Instagram, Gobert shared a photo with their son on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Bonilla shared her feelings before deactivating her account: “I’m going through one of the most painful times in my life, feeling isolated from family and friends,” she wrote. Reflecting on her commitment to Gobert, she said, “I left everything for him and poured my heart into our relationship.”
Bonilla noted that she defended Gobert during challenging times, emphasizing her role as a mother and the importance of health and happiness for her children. She requested privacy as she navigates this difficult period.
As for Gobert, he continues to lead the Timberwolves through the Western Conference Finals, with the team set to face off against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night.
