Florida Man Arrested for Shooting Neighbor’s Pregnant Cow
A Florida man has been taken into custody after reportedly shooting his neighbor’s pregnant cow multiple times before turning the gun on his own property. The individual, identified as Hung Trinh, 54, faces charges of animal cruelty and grand theft related to commercial livestock.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Trinh allegedly shot a two-year-old cow five times, hitting its abdomen, chest, and hind legs. Authorities responded to a call on May 13 and found the animal still alive but struggling to stand. The neighbor had reported discovering the calf with five gunshot wounds on his property.
The situation took a tragic turn when a veterinarian determined that the cow had to be euthanized due to the extent of its injuries. It’s notable that neighbors in the area raise cattle primarily for commercial purposes.
It seems Trinh had been upset about prior incidents where livestock wandered into his yard. A neighbor mentioned that Trinh had expressed intentions to shoot any animals that entered his property.
Following the reports, deputies executed a search warrant on Trinh’s property, where they discovered a .22 caliber firearm in a shed. Sheriff Carmine Marceno emphasized the seriousness of the crime, stating, “Innocent animals should not suffer due to someone’s frustration, and there will be real consequences for such actions.”
Trinh has been held on a bond of $100,000 and is set to appear in court on June 16.
