Geneva Agreement on Pandemic Preparedness
Geneva: On Tuesday, the World Health Organization (WHO) members reached a significant milestone by endorsing a new agreement aimed at enhancing preparedness for future pandemics. This decision comes in the aftermath of the devastating Covid-19 pandemic, which claimed millions of lives between 2020 and 2022.
After three years of discussions, the legally binding agreement was officially adopted at the World Health Council in Geneva. There was a warm response from the WHO as the member states celebrated this achievement with applause.
