Chris Russo criticizes ABC for the terrible Bill Belichick interview

Analysis of Bill Belichick’s “Good Morning America” Appearance

Chris “Mad Dog” Russo has characterized ABC’s approach during Bill Belichick’s recent sit-in on “Good Morning America” as “terrifying.”

In his comments, Russo scrutinized the discussion between “GMA” host Michael Strahan and the new coach of UNC football, who faced questions about his relationship with 24-year-old Jordon Hudson. Russo went so far as to call it “one of the most troublesome interviews I’ve seen in my life.”

According to Russo, ABC essentially gave Belichick free rein, stating, “Bill, we want you to tell us what questions to ask.” He described this as “fearful.” Russo expressed these views during a guest appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show.”

Belichick, who is promoting his book, The Art of Winning, was joined by Strahan for a discussion that touched on his personal life. When asked about Hudson, a former cheerleader for UNC, Belichick said, “She’s been fantastic throughout the process and really helped me.” He emphasized that her career outside of football allows him to focus on the game.

When questioned about his feelings regarding Hudson, Belichick mentioned he was happy but preferred not to discuss personal relationships. While the conversation covered anecdotes from his book, Russo noted the missed opportunity to address controversial aspects of Belichick’s career.

He argued that real questions should have included topics like Malcolm Butler’s benching, the depiction of Patriots owner Bob Kraft in the book, and the circumstances surrounding Belichick’s exit from New England in January 2024.

Belichick led the Patriots to six Super Bowl victories during his 24-season run before departing the team. His decision not to include Kraft in his book has only heightened speculation about their relationship.

Belichick is now gearing up for his inaugural season as UNC’s head coach, with a matchup against TCU set for September 1st.
