64 Migrants Return to Their Home Countries from Texas on Project Homecoming Flight

HOUSTON, Texas

Officials from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have reported the inaugural charter flight for immigrants using the CBP Home app to facilitate their self-return. This flight, part of the “homecoming” initiative, has seen 64 individuals from Honduras and Colombia depart from Houston.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem shared a celebratory social media post featuring migrants on a flight in Houston. These individuals, who had previously entered the United States illegally, utilized the redesigned CBP Home App to volunteer for flights back to their countries, receiving a $1,000 travel stipend for their decision.

“If you’re here illegally, you’re using the CBP Home app to manage your departure and obtain financial assistance for your return,” Noem stated. “If you choose not to, you risk fines, arrest, deportation, and barring from future entry.”

The Secretary also remarked, “For those residing here illegally, now you have the option to self-report, retaining your opportunity and possibly returning legally.”

DHS released a video on X depicting migrants boarding a bus in Houston to reach the charter flight.

“All participants enjoyed the same benefits as illegal aliens who self-declare via the CBP Home App,” stated authorities. “They received travel aid, a $1,000 stipend, and preserved the chance to return to the U.S. legally someday.”

The flight was composed of 38 Honduran nationals and 28 Colombians, according to DHS officials. Upon arrival, Honduran immigrants received a warm welcome back home, including their $1,000 travel stipend, plus a $100 bonus per adult, food vouchers, and job support.

The 26 Colombian returnees were welcomed by officials from Colombia’s Foreign Affairs and Immigration, along with their families. They received social services from the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare and the Department of Social Prosperity upon their return.

It’s worth noting that these migrants voluntarily chose to self-report, which is distinct from traditional removal operations.

“This charter flight represents a primary step by the department to foster a homecoming initiative, reflecting President Trump’s recent declaration,” stated DHS.
