Knicks shouldn’t rely on another opportunity like this one

Knicks’ Aspirations and Realities

The Knicks seem constructed for sustained success, hoping to add another championship banner to the famed pinwheel ceiling of Madison Square Garden. They should approach this season with the expectation that they’re more than just a one-time wonder and that, assuming they’re relatively healthy, they can perform consistently well. Their core is built for stability and confidence.

At least, that’s the plan.

But, as we know, reality often tells a different story. Life, especially in sports, isn’t straightforward. Injuries can strike at any moment, players age, coaches sometimes lose their touch, and team chemistry can fade away. Nothing is ever guaranteed. It’s reminiscent of January 1999 when, after the Jets’ disappointing loss in the AFC Championship Game to Denver, the old Mile High Stadium was set to be demolished just 45 minutes later.

As Bill Parcells once remarked, “No one promises you anything.” Standing outside the locker room then, he appeared worn down, as if carrying the weight of the world. “I’m just thinking about everything that has to happen just to get back here… it’s exhausting.”
