Authorities have charged 21-year-old Ethan Kirkwood with supplying alcohol to minors, asserting that he purchased beer for Markwood before the incident. Prosecutors allege that they can see Kirkwood buying beer from vendors multiple times for Markwood during the game.
Kirkwood has reportedly admitted to buying beer on that day before Markwood jumped from the stands.
Kirkwood is scheduled to appear in court at the end of June.
Markwood, who played linebacker at Wheeling University, suffered a broken neck, collarbone, and back but has stated that he feels fine and is optimistic about his recovery.
