44-year-old woman severely assaulted on NYC island and remains unresponsive days later

A 44-year-old woman was severely assaulted on Randall Island late Friday night, and it has been four days without any sign of response from her, according to officials on Tuesday.

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. while she was walking on 600 East 125th Street, where she encountered her attackers multiple times, as reported by the NYPD.

Authorities have shared images of the victim in an effort to identify the assailant.

As of Tuesday, the victim was discovered in critical condition and transported to Elmhurst Hospital, where she remains unresponsive and in danger, police indicated.

The exact circumstances of the attack are unclear, making it difficult for officers to gather information, since they cannot communicate with her.

Details surrounding the vicious beating have not been disclosed, including whether it was a random act of violence.

Authorities have also released an image hoping to generate leads from witnesses who may have seen her or her attacker.
