Nancy Mace’s Controversial Claims at Congressional Hearing
During a recent hearing in Congress, Representative Nancy Mace brought attention to a highly personal issue, suggesting that her nude image was recorded without her consent by her former fiancée. This statement came amidst her push for stricter laws against video voyeurism.
“Freedom is not just a concept; it means being able to sleep without the fear of someone recording you,” the lawmaker from South Carolina asserted, sharing her experiences not just as a politician but as a survivor of such violations. The moment was particularly striking as she displayed a stark black and white image, which she identified as a nude silhouette of herself, with a yellow circle highlighting her figure.
“I was unaware that I was being filmed. I never consented to this,” Mace added, clearly emotional.
However, the situation escalated, with Mace’s ex-fiancé, Patrick Bryant, accused of serious offenses, including sexual assault, which he has vehemently denied. “I reject all of Nancy Mace’s outrageous claims. I have never raped anyone or used hidden cameras. These claims are malicious and personal,” his statement declared.
Bryant further suggested that Mace was leveraging her Congressional role to issue accusations that would be shielded from lawsuits due to constitutional protections for speech made in Congress. “If she genuinely believed in her allegations, she would present them formally and pursue legal action outside of this setting,” he expressed.
This isn’t Mace’s first public mention of the troubles with Bryant. Earlier in February, she accused him and several of his business associates of various sexual misconducts, alleging she found over 10,000 troubling images and videos on his devices that included acts of voyeurism and abuse. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Department is currently investigating her claims, and Bryant has stated he is cooperating fully with the authorities.
