Musk criticizes journalist in interview: ‘Feels like conversing with a machine’

Elon Musk expressed frustration during an interview with Bloomberg editor Mishal Hussein at the Qatar Economic Forum on Tuesday. He criticized the nature of interactions with journalists, likening it to engaging with a computer.

Hussein pressed Musk on the progress of Doj in curbing federal waste. She mentioned that while Musk claims Doge is saving $4 billion daily, this amount falls short of his ambitious target of saving $2 trillion by the end of next year.

Musk replied, “You feel somewhat trapped… It’s like talking to a computer,” indicating his dissatisfaction with the traditional journalistic approach.

He mentioned that Doge functions as an advisory body and believes they are achieving significant progress so far. “I don’t think any advisory groups have improved in the history of advisory groups for government,” he added. Musk clarified that they don’t have legislative power or control over the judiciary—they’re simply advisors and doing well in that role.

The tech entrepreneur, who serves as a senior advisor to President Trump, noted that the three branches of government often present challenges to his intended savings goals.

Doge has been involved in a significant restructuring of the federal government since President Trump began his second term, leading to the dismissal of hundreds of thousands of federal employees. While Musk claims this effort has saved billions, there are concerns among some experts that his savings figures may not be as substantial as he suggests.
