Danielle Collins criticizes cameraman for an ‘extremely inappropriate’ action

During a women’s tennis match in Strasbourg on Wednesday, tensions flared as photographer got a bit too close for comfort to players Danielle Collins and Emma Raducanu.

As the match intensified, with both players locked in a decisive third set after trading games, they took a necessary two-minute break to switch sides.

That’s when Collins confronted the photographer, clearly frustrated. She remarked, “I need to get some water. We’re switching. You don’t need to be near me, you don’t have to be on top of Emma,” adding with a mix of irritation and humor, “It’s just very inappropriate.”

She went on to stress, “It’s not hard to give some space.”

This little incident seemed to ignite something in Collins.

She quickly regained her focus, winning three consecutive games to clinch the set and the match with scores of 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.

A little extra motivation, perhaps? Whatever works for her.

After the match, Collins shared her thoughts on self-expression and what it takes to succeed. “I think I’m pretty good at everything, and being myself is crucial. There aren’t many successful people who don’t embody their true selves,” she stated. “I’m a competitor, not someone who hides away. I want to succeed and know what that demands.”

Known for her fierce demeanor on the court, Collins reminds some of the legendary John McEnroe.

Earlier this year in Australia, she faced off against Destanee Aiava, playfully engaging with the crowd, even blowing kisses and confronting booing fans. She cheekily noted that those who booed actually contributed to what she called the “Daniel Collins Fund,” which she planned to use for a luxurious vacation.

Now, Collins is set to advance to the quarterfinals, where she’ll take on Anna Karinsakaya.
