Stan Verrett Departs ESPN After 25 Years
Longtime anchors of ESPN’s “SportsCenter” are making exits from the network.
Stan Verrett is leaving ESPN after a remarkable 25-year tenure, as reported by various sources.
It appears ESPN has decided not to renew his contract.
In a statement, ESPN executive Dave Roberts expressed gratitude for Verrett’s contributions, saying, “We are grateful for Stan’s many contributions and everything he has brought to the SportsCenter over the years. We appreciate him and hope he continues to succeed.”
Verrett took to social media to share his thoughts following the news of his departure.
He stated, “My life is in Los Angeles,” highlighting his connection to the city.
Since joining the network in 2000, Verrett has been hosting the 1 AM edition of SportsCenter since 2009. He teamed up with Neil Everett in ESPN’s Los Angeles studios for around 14 years until Everett left the network in June 2023.
Earlier this year, ESPN announced plans to move the Los Angeles edition of SportsCenter to its headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut.
On Verrett’s final night, he co-hosted alongside Linda Cohn, getting a surprise visit from Everett during the show.
