Shakira’s Concert Faces Measles Exposure Warning
Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour is reportedly going well. The tour has drawn comparisons to Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour, yet Shakira has kept it unique by inviting her nanny, known from a previous scandal, to join her on stage, performing deep cuts and, well, shaking her hips. However, a little issue cropped up this week. On Tuesday, the New Jersey Department of Health issued a warning regarding a potential measles exposure for concertgoers who traveled to see Shakira perform. This alert was triggered by an individual, not a New Jersey resident, who attended the concert while infected with measles. The health department didn’t disclose specific seating details but has encouraged anyone present at the Thursday night event to consult a healthcare provider. Symptoms could appear as late as June 6th for those exposed.

This potential exposure aligns with various outbreaks across the nation. Earlier this year, one outbreak sadly led to the death of an unvaccinated child in Texas. The best defense against the virus? The MMR vaccine, which covers measles, mumps, and rubella in a two-part dose. Yet, with rising vaccine misinformation and anti-vaccine advocates gaining attention—like RFK Jr. in a key health position—the country has seen over 1,000 confirmed measles cases this year, a concerning statistic. According to the CDC, we may be looking at the largest outbreak in the U.S. in nearly 25 years, which is enough to even prompt RFK Jr. to acknowledge the need for the MMR vaccine.
I came to Gaines County, Texas, today to comfort the Hildebrand family after the loss of their 8-year-old daughter Daisy. I got to know the family of 6-year-old Kayley Fehr after she passed away in February. I also developed bonds with and deep affection for other members of…

For Shakira’s worried fans, health officials have advised them to monitor for symptoms like high fever, cough, runny nose, watery red eyes, and a flat red rash that typically appears three to five days post-exposure. Those who haven’t been fully vaccinated or haven’t had measles before might be at risk. And hopefully, Shakira has been vaccinated; she still has a world tour to complete, after all.
