Tragic Incident in New York: Man Kills Pregnant Wife and Attacks Daughters

A man from New York has been charged with killing his pregnant wife and wounding their two young daughters. Drew Garnier, 33, allegedly fatally stabbed his wife, Samantha, 29, in their Masonville home, according to reports.

The incident took place in 2024, just weeks before Samantha’s 30th birthday. Garnier is said to have repeatedly stabbed his daughters, Izzy and Adelina, aged six, during the horrifying event. Unfortunately, both Samantha and her unborn child did not survive the attack.

Grief-stricken, Samantha’s father, Gregory Vernagaro, suggested that Garnier may have been driven by anger regarding the pregnancy, which he had wished would result in a boy. “He wanted a boy,” Vernagaro remarked in court.

In an unexpected turn, Garnier’s stepfather claimed in court that he has now taken on the role of father for the two injured girls, stating, “I’m their father now. I’ll protect them.”

The New York State Police apprehended Garnier on September 5, 2024, following a national incident that led them to his residence. They reported that all three women had suffered multiple stab wounds and required immediate hospitalization due to the severity of their injuries.

On March 25, Garnier pled guilty to several charges, including first-degree assault and two counts of violent felony offenses. He has been sentenced to 30 years in prison along with 15 years of supervised release. Additionally, he is barred from any contact with his daughters until 2056. However, the girls could choose to meet him if they wish in the future.

The Delaware County District Attorney’s Office acknowledged that Garnier had reached an agreement for a more severe penalty, reflecting the trauma inflicted on his young daughters.
