Meghan Markle shares her thoughts on the unfulfilled dream of being a royal mother.

In a recent episode of her podcast “Confessions of a Female Founder,” Meghan Markle opened up about her experiences with royal motherhood, reflecting on how different it was from her expectations. She shared that while she always imagined herself as a mom, the reality didn’t quite match what she envisioned. “I had this idea of giving speeches with my baby on my hip,” she noted, but the realities of motherhood in the royal family were far from that.

Richard Fitzwilliams, a royal expert, pointed out that the British royal family has specific plans for Meghan and Harry’s children, Archie and Lilibet, emphasizing their connection to British heritage. However, he expressed concern that past actions by the Sussexes could hinder their children’s relationships with other royals. He commented on the underlying tensions, stating that their public criticisms and Harry’s memoir have deepened the divide.

Meghan, who transitioned from a Hollywood actress to the Duchess of Sussex after marrying Harry in 2018, recounted how their honeymoon phase quickly shifted. They moved to California in 2020, citing overwhelming media scrutiny and a lack of support from royal circles. They welcomed daughter Lilibet in 2021, but since stepping back from royal duties, they have been cautious to protect their children’s privacy, sharing limited images without showing their faces.

Experts have indicated that if the royal family had addressed Meghan’s concerns early on, perhaps things would have turned out differently. Ian Pelham Turner remarked that many were not surprised by Meghan’s departure from royal life and that it was now up to King Charles to mend relationships.

In a recent interview, Harry expressed a desire to reconcile with his family, especially in light of pressing family matters, including his father’s health. He emphasized the importance of family connections for his children, admitting the ongoing tensions have made that challenging. As they continue to raise their family in Montecito, both Harry and Meghan appear to balance their desire for privacy with the reality of their royal past.
