Bruce Springsteen’s Latest Anti-Trump Release
Bruce Springsteen dropped a live digital download on Wednesday, intensifying his ongoing dispute with President Donald Trump. This release, featuring highlights from a recent show in Manchester, England, became available last week and includes four songs along with two pointed critiques aimed at Trump.
“The Mighty E Street Band is here tonight, advocating for the power of art, music, and rock and roll during troubling times,” Springsteen stated. He expressed concern for the America he loves, suggesting it is now governed by corrupt and incompetent leaders. “Let’s raise our voices against authoritarianism and stand up for democracy together,” he urged.
In another performance, he criticized elected officials for their failure to safeguard citizens from “unjust presidents and abuses of power.” He lamented that these leaders are dismantling historic civil rights laws that had aimed to create fairer, more inclusive societies.
On the same day, President Trump shared a video that appeared to mockingly depict him knocking Springsteen down with a golf ball. Springsteen, a longtime critic of Trump, found that his comments garnered extra attention after this response from the president.
Trump remarked that Springsteen had gone overseas to disparage the U.S. president, calling him “overrated” and criticizing both his music and political views. Meanwhile, Springsteen seemed to be dodging commentary about this latest tension during a recent interview.
