Zac Brown to be honored with Veterans Voice Award at Memorial Day American Music Awards

Zac Brown’s Commitment to Veterans Highlighted

Zac Brown, known for his dedication to honoring service members, meets with veterans before his concerts to recognize their sacrifices. He recently shared with a news outlet how grateful he is for their stories and the moments he shares with them on stage.

On Memorial Day, Brown is set to receive the Veteran Audio Award at the Easy Day Foundation’s American Music Awards. He expressed how meaningful this recognition is, highlighting its purpose in supporting veterans. “The more people see how deserving they are, the more we can help,” he noted.

He believes that the sacrifices made by veterans and their families often go unnoticed. To address this, Brown founded a camp in Georgia over a decade ago that serves both veterans and kids. “We’re running a 34-week program for veterans,” he mentioned, referring to a partnership designed to assist those facing PTSD and other challenges upon returning from service.

At Camp Southern Ground, veterans can tell their stories, often through music, which can be therapeutic. This approach helps them connect with talented songwriters who can bring their experiences to life. Brown explained that the camp also fosters family unity, teaching service members how to reintegrate into family life successfully.

While discussing his many experiences with veterans, Brown indicated he finds it tough to pinpoint just one story due to the sheer number of impactful anecdotes he has heard. He shared one friend’s battle with personal demons and how it’s a constant struggle to conquer them.

Brown believes it’s crucial for Americans to reflect on the contributions of those who protect their freedoms. “It’s important to pause and remember the sacrifices made by many,” he stated, further emphasizing the unique opportunities available in the U.S.

In terms of the future, Brown invited others looking to contribute to veterans’ causes to join initiatives like his camp. He underscored that it’s about more than just camping; it’s about growth and learning every year.

The collaboration between the American Music Awards and the Easy Day Foundation aims to share inspirational veteran stories while supporting various organizations dedicated to helping veterans reintegrate into civilian life. A portion of ticket sales will benefit these efforts, with seats specifically reserved for veterans during the event.
