Kelsey Grammer from ‘Frasier’ expresses worries about the integrity of AI.

Kelsey Grammer, the award-winning actor, has expressed his concerns about the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in Hollywood, particularly regarding deepfakes. He warned that these technologies could lead to a dangerous blurring of reality. In a recent discussion, he mentioned, “What makes me a little sad is our widespread adoption of deepfakes,” emphasizing the strange nature of people manipulating images and videos.

Grammer, known for his role on “Frasier,” acknowledged that while AI has its benefits, like in healthcare, he worries about the potential for AI to rapidly create false identities. He pointed out that AI, particularly in creative fields, fails to capture the spontaneity and depth of human emotion. “I’m still pretty sure it never reflects the same spontaneity that a human does,” he reflected. “Seeing real humans is always more interesting.” This suggests that while AI has capabilities, it lacks a crucial element—authenticity.

He recognizes the effectiveness of AI in various sectors, especially medicine, but cautioned that as developments continue, we should remain wary. “AI is not better than the people who program it,” he mentioned, but also noted that it is learning in ways that could improve its functionality beyond human input.

In his recent memoir, “Karen: Remember My Brothers,” Grammer touches on these themes, pushing for a return to values like integrity and good manners in our interactions with technology. As he navigates his career, he seems committed to ensuring that the human touch remains central in storytelling and the arts.
