It’s unreasonable to claim that Harvard encourages violence and antisemitism.

Sen. Blumenthal Defends Harvard Against Accusations

During a segment on CNN’s “Source” that aired Thursday, Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) described the claims against Harvard for supposedly endorsing violence and anti-Semitism as “absolutely ridiculous.”

Blumenthal argued that these allegations are, in his view, a tactic used to undermine Harvard’s academic freedoms and independence. He emphasized that the Secretary of Homeland Security has issued clear warnings to universities, suggesting that there could be repercussions for their employment practices, curriculum, and admissions. He expressed concerns that academic independence could be jeopardized.

The senator further addressed the accusations directed at Harvard, stating that they were not just unfounded but also connected to claims of collusion with the Chinese Communist Party. He stressed that the response from Harvard is indicative of its commitment to maintaining its independence amid what he described as retaliation and attacks on free speech, which have also impacted law firms.
