A cryptocurrency investor in Kentucky was taken into custody on Friday, according to law enforcement sources.
The 28-year-old victim reportedly escaped from a troubling situation at an apartment known as the Soho House of Horrors and rushed to a nearby police officer, explaining he had been held against his will for over two weeks.
John Watts, who is 37 years old, is anticipated to face charges of assault, as per sources.
Two additional individuals believed to be associated with Woeltz, a crypto entrepreneur, were reportedly waiting to speak to the police.
It’s said that the parties involved may have had prior business dealings.
Tourists arriving from Italy on May 6 were settled into a high-end apartment when the suspect allegedly confiscated one of their passports and restrained them, according to the report.
Following a conversation with the victim, law enforcement searched the luxurious apartment and found various torture items.
Authorities also discovered Polaroid images depicting the victim in distressing situations, as well as a firearm.
The emergency services unit was called to examine the premises to confirm that no other individuals were being held under similar circumstances.
This upscale 8-bedroom apartment is reportedly listed for rent at a staggering $30,000 to $40,000 per month, being situated in a prime area of the city.
