D.C. Gunman Shot Injured Jewish Woman at Close Range as She Attempted to Escape

A man has been accused of a terrorist attack in Washington, D.C. Wednesday night, reportedly reloading his gun and firing at a victim again after she had already been injured.

Elias Rodriguez, 31, seems to have acknowledged killing two officials from the Israeli embassy outside a Jewish community event focused on humanitarian aid at the capital’s Jewish Museum.

Witnesses indicated that while being taken away by the police, the suspect repeatedly shouted “free Palestine.”

According to Josh Kraushaar, “After the shooting, the man went inside. He requested water and a safe space, then yelled Free Palestine before police escorted him out.”

The victims were named as Sarah Milgrim and Jaron Lisinsky.

Criminal charges against Rodriguez highlight that he reportedly passed by the victims and two witnesses before turning around and drawing his weapon from his waistband. Video footage captures him extending his arms and firing multiple rounds.

Further details in the complaints state that after one victim fell, he approached her and fired again. Reports mentioned that Milgrim appeared to attempt to crawl away, but he followed and shot her several more times.

It seems he even reloaded at one point while sitting down after the violence. Evidence collected by the DC Department of Forensic Sciences includes 21 spent 9mm shell casings along with a magazine and a pistol with a locked slide.

Milgrim and Lisinsky had recently expressed plans to get engaged the following week.
