Coroner states that multiple tragedies still exist in the case of the Fox Hollow Farm serial killer.

Update on Fox Hollow Farm Victims

The Hamilton County Coroner, Jeff Jerison, recently revealed that he identified Daniel Thomas Halloran’s remains at Fox Hollow Farm in Westfield, Indiana. Halloran is considered the 10th suspected victim of the serial killer Herb Baumeister, who is believed to be connected to at least 25 murders.

A spokesperson from the coroner’s office noted that there are currently three DNA profiles awaiting identification. Jerison, in an interview, described the ongoing process of sifting through approximately 10,000 bone fragments, adding that it remains unclear how many victims may ultimately be identified. He reflected on the gravity of the situation, stating, “we have some tragedies to deal with,” highlighting the importance of recognizing the individual stories behind each fragment.

Jerison expressed a commitment to continuing this challenging work until his term ends. He recalled a poignant sentiment he heard: “one death is a tragedy; multiple deaths become statistics.” Yet, he emphasizes the need to treat each case with the dignity it deserves.

Describing Baumeister’s history, police believe he targeted gay men during the 1980s and 1990s, luring them to his home before killing them and burying their bodies on his sprawling property. The investigation into his crimes intensified after bone fragments were discovered in 1996, leading to his eventual suicide shortly afterward in a Canadian park.

In closing, Jerison stated, “This research goes far beyond my time in this office,” indicating that the effort to identify victims will extend well beyond his tenure. The investigations continue, as investigators seek clarity and closure for the families affected by these tragic events.
