How the Trump tax law affects your finances

Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent appeared on “American Newsroom” to talk about various economic issues, including tariffs in the European Union, specific tariffs on Apple, and potential changes to a significant Senate bill aimed at modernizing the IRS.

President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Building” proposal has managed to pass through the House and Senate despite concerns. Critics argue that the bill, which spans over 1,000 pages, will lead to an increase in the already high national debt, which stands at a staggering $36 trillion. However, Bescent is optimistic about the situation.

He stated, “We believe that we can stimulate economic growth while keeping debt in check. The emphasis is on this bill; it should pave the way for the economy to expand faster than our debt.” He pointed out that there is a focus on the total GDP debt.

National Debt Tracker: Each American taxpayer is responsible for $36,214,475,432,210.

Nonetheless, the bill has several aspects that aim to help American workers and households. For instance, it’s reported that hardworking Americans won’t have to pay taxes on tips, which is beneficial for those in service jobs, but this may affect government revenue.
